Another favorite perennial, stokesia aster. In my gardens they do best with some shade.

Silky Skies is gorgeous along with that fabulous clump of Flutterbye! Your Pizza Crust is always so reliable. Mine bloomed well this year but usually in single blooms or blooms on either side of a large clump so it was not as impressive as when several blooms are together.

Always, always, always stunning sherry! Tell me, I know so little about these types of day lilies…..my knowledge is limited to the “ditch lily” variety (😝) and orientals. How many days do the individual blooms last?

Sherry, your Flutterbye looks great. Mine did well too this year. I love your stokesia aster!! I find asters very appealing and I love that color. Sadly, I haven't tried to grow any because they are closely related to ragweed.

You know how much I like Buzz Saw and you are right about yours not being as white as mine. At least in the picture. However, you have to have 100 degree sun on it to achieve that white with gold edge look, and I think you don't want that....I've always liked Pizza Crust with it's soft pastel colors and Flutterby is a scene stealer for sure.....I grew, or tried to grow Stokesia many years ago. It's reputed to be heat hardy. However, It didn't like its full sun position in my front border at all. My neighbor tried it after I took pity on it and passed it along to her. It didn't like her garden any better then mine. So when you say it has succeeded in part shade, it makes a lot of sense to me. It certainly looks happy with you. Such a pretty shade of blue.........Maryl

Silky Skies: wow it is a weird poly. Trance FFO looking good! I like Buzz Saw too and I really appreciate when daylilies still bloom after being disturbed. Flutterbye looks great and so long blooming!

Debra, individual flower lasts a day.

Debra, each bloom always lasts a day. An established clump of daylilies will have blooms for a month. There are daylilies that bloom early, midseason and late. If you check bloom times you can have daylilies blooming all summer. Not many of us grow ”ditch” lilies in our flower gardens……they are close to invasive and can be difficult to remove because of the root system. Daylilies should be easy for you to grow in Wisconsin if you have spots in that shady yard with a half day of sun.

I like the bitone of MInnesota Morning. I see that a parent of this Schaben is Something Wonderful, which does great here. Many blooms are smaller this year and also washed out. Stokesia tends to be short lived here. You're fortunate to have found a good location.
