At least before the pandemic, the BM store near me (not a hardware store, a BM company store) had an in house color consultant who would come out to your house for a nominal fee for a consultation. SW might do this as well. When we were looking at painting contractors to paint a couple rooms in our house two years ago, the two larger painting contractors had their own color consultants. Painters don't like painting your house a color you end up not liking even if they get to charge you twice when you ask for the rooms to be repainted. They usually have other jobs lined up they want to get to. :-) Painting contractors sometimes have brand preferences (because of how much a discount they get), so don't waste your time selecting colors in a brand they don't want to use. People are not always happy with how color matching between brands turns out.

We used SW online color consulting a few years ago for our exterior (in-person wasn’t available). I found it very helpful.

I too had a color consultant from Farrow and Ball. They can do in home or online. They were really good. I cannot remember the cost but I thought it was completely reasonable and lower than I anticipated.

My husband was so thrilled when I began paying a color consultant and stopped asking him!

Hi Sarah. I recently had a free 30 minute FaceTime consult with Sherwin Williams. It really wasn’t adequate for me, but can’t hate on it because it was free and the person tried. But trying colors through a FaceTime isn’t the best. I have had good luck on YouTube, though. I’ve watched Kylie M and several others review various paint colors. I’ve learned a lot about how light and furniture and floors change paint colors. And the LRV and other qualities of paint.

I know I have read many of the blogs as well as scouring to find helpful websites comparing colors and finding similar colors in varying brands. All the info is helpful in at least eliminating potential colors but finding the right one can be such a huge effort. I've been tempted but have never tried an expert so I'm really curious to see how it goes for you.

It is very helpful to read so many comments wih pleased customers.

Sarah- if it wasn’t already mentioned here, I have several samples from Samplize. They are large adhesive back swatches of actual paint that you can move around and reuse again and again. I learned that Farrow and Ball Dimity holds a nice color anywhere in my first floor. The same goes for SW Fragile Beauty. I’m awaiting other colors to try. I did find that out of the 6 Samplize swatches, 4 of them changed dramatically in different areas and are unappealing to me. Yes, it can be very frustrating and difficult to make a decision.
