It has been quite a long time since I have visited someone else's daylily garden the size of Brent Ross' Cottage Gardens. All I can say is WOW! His house sits on an acre of land and that garden holds all of his newer introductions as well as his most recent acquisitions, which he has a ton. Plants are everywhere. There are also some trees and other perenials. His neighbor behind him allows him to use some space for seedlings. They are nestled in among the weeds. If they can survive there, they must be tough. Then he rents an acre from his neighbor on the other side of her house and that is where he has older daylilies. He has about 4,000 daylilies. I spent four hours shopping and wishing. Brent stated that his property is larger than Curt Hanson's. Having never been to Curt's place but have seen overhead images, his does not seem small. Brent said that I missed peak bloom as it was about 10 days ago. Does not matter, there was plenty to see.

When I got to his property through an entrance in the back, I was blown away. Flowers everywhere. It also looked quite lush and had some shade and a green house where he keeps his newest acquisitions quarantined to prevent any possibility of rust spreading.

In the past, I had been to Darryl Apps' place in New Jersey, which was vast and the seedling field was huge but the named fields were manageable. I have also been to Trimmer's, Stamile's and Reilly's gardens in Florida, but they all paled in comparison to what Brent has going on. No wonder he has a golf cart to get around.
