Big Chill ranges are re-packaged BlueStar ranges. For example, the Big Chill 30" Pro Gas Range is the BlueStar RCS30SBV2 with one lower-BTU burner and a $600 higher price. The only CR-tested, recommended "pro-style" range was the Monogram ZGP304NTSS.

Just buy the Blustar without the hokey chassis modification.

@t@tjtheesfeld. Believe me, I understand your attraction to the styling of the Big Chill ranges. Unfortunately, the history of customer service and that brand is pretty atrocious. They sell products that look wonderful and they have some good performance features, but the thrill of styling will wear thin pretty quickly when you discover that no one in your area is likely to service them. Now, if it were a situation where they used the same model and part numbers that Bluestar does, you might have a decent shot of getting Service but unfortunately, they do not. . If you go with Bluestar, you have the option of ordering one with open style burners, which many culinary folks suggest are easier to cook with than sealed burners, which, almost every manufacturer, including the monogram brand use. There’s nothing wrong with sealed burners, if that is your preference, but I’m a huge fan of open burners as are many people who choose the Bluestar ranges. Service is incredibly important, no matter what appliance we’re talking about and when it comes to a range, that’s arguably the most important appliance in your entire kitchen. It would be a real shame for you to go long periods that would be involved in a desperate search to find someone to service, one of those Big Chill ranges. Whether you go with a.Bluestar or another brand such as monogram, check with the people who service appliances in your local/metro area and be absolutely sure that you can find at least one and preferably more than one service company that is willing to work on whatever you purchase.
