Giraffe garden hose reel - anyone use one?

The old garden hose reel that I got with my house kinda fell apart, but for all I know it was 30 years old. I'm now faced with the idea of getting something new. I'm not a gardener, but I do have a new front yard of ground cover (with a flagstone path) that will need to be regularly watered until it gets well established, and maybe after that, weather depending. So, I decided I need a new garden hose reel, because 75' or so of garden hose is tough to handle without one.

My landscape guy recommended a Giraffe garden hose reel, which is a self-retracting reel with hose. Although they're wall mounted, I'd probably place a 4x4 post and attach it to that instead.

Reviews look pretty good online, but I'd like to hear directly from some users if I can, rather than just those who took the time to post on the site......Has anyone here owned and used a Giraffe garden product (hose and reel in particular)?

I didn’t know it was called a Giraffe garden hose reel, but DH just bought one and installed it a couple of weeks ago with a 75’ hose. He primarily uses it as it’s the one closest to our garage and it gets the most use for washing the vehicles and such. So far he likes it so much better than the manual crank reel we have had before and it actually takes up less space.

I do use it too when I’m working around the front of the house (applying fertilizers, systemics, etc) and like the fact it is so much easier to retract.

I have a similar set up. Mines a strongway. It's mounted inside my garage with hot and cold water. (Note: The garage has radiant floor heat, it won't freeze.) It came with the house 6 years ago. I really like it. It has 150' hose attached to it. (It doesn't come with the hose)

We have one. DH did extensive searching for the one that would do what I needed it to do. Be higher up, swivel so the hose can go front yard and side yard. Easy to reel up. In the end it was disappointing. The hose we need does not fit. It's too small a circle to reel easily. We tried one of those expanding hoses but they don't have enough volume to run the sprinklers. Ours is attached to the side of the garage.

Never heard of the Giraffe reel, but retractable seems convenient 🙂

I have a 2 wheeled cart like this one - the handle folds down too.

No, but I have a Giraffe hose. It has an orange stripe, and man is it good. It's a touch softer than the good quality brand we used to have, and doesn't kink, easy to wind up. I love it so much.
