You size a ceiling light or chandelier to the space. Measure the floor, length and width in feet and convert to inches. Height has nothing to do with the size. Let's say hall is 4' x 6'. Convert to inches and you would purchase a light 10" in width. A semi flush would work with and not compete with the pendants.

I notice that you have disparate flooring; consider a runner.

@elcieg Good to know, thanks. Looking for light suggestions that would look good and coordinate with the kitchen lighting that you can see from both angles. And the flooring is supposed to look like that - red oak hardwoods, herringbone.. all same flooring different styles.

Why did you do different wood flooring? It isn't contiguous. When one wood floor is next to another it is similar. Tile could be herringbone because it isn't wood.

And thank you for the light suggestion. I wanted that design, and i think it looks the best the way it is. I love my flooring.
