Has the roof structure been looked at by an engineer to insure it can support a roof deck?

roof probably will not support deck on top.…but would like deck attached same level as roof but not on top….

I am totally confused you just want a really high deck not a roof top one really.Why a high deck at all ? You say cabine what is the structure next to this ? Do you not have space for a proper deck?

I would say you are much too close tot he road to put a deck 15 feet up in the air. How would you get to it? Why and how would you use a 15' high deck?

A spiral stairs or stairs off the back. Isn’t there such a thing as roof-top decks for the views? The best views are from literally standing on the actual roof.
We’ll probably just look at the view.

The issue with that @Hallett @ Co. is this statement from the op. That definitely would require support from the cabin.

Oh I’m not suggesting this is a good idea or the least bit feasible, I’m just trying to figure out if this is what the op is trying to ask about. I think it’s a terrible idea. For what this is going to cost you could build a second story.

You have a cute cabin, but your question is really meant for a GC who works with an Architect. Searching google for DIY ideas will not help you. You need the support and direction of someone with experience and licensed to make the changes you need.

How big is the space around your house? It looks like you are very close to the street and in some photos it looks like there is a building behind? What are the measurements of all areas, house, roof, space around it ? What does your city or town allow for building?

I would start with a high-end decking company that has a well-regarded engineer on staff, there will also be roofing impact so they will need to pull in expertise for that as well

People, he wants a deck that is the height of the roof off to the side of the building. but would like deck attached same level as roof but not on top…. So you want a free standing deck attached to the side of the house?

Could it be designed for parking underneath or a sitting area?

Check local zoning requirements. Setback distances may be problematic.

Is there room at ground level for a deck with steps up? I see many decks with two levels with down steps but why not?

The roof has the best views…any other suggestions? The best view of nature is on the side.
