I had marble tops in a former bathroom and it was fine. Much less prone to damage in a bath vs. a kitchen. But caution if you're using anything like home hair dyes. And make sure you use a non-abrasive cleanser.

It’s going to get worn-etching is inevitable. You’ll probably see water spots. But is it worth the expense and effort to change it? It’s a kids bath so there won’t be hair dyes. It all depends on your tolerance for the imperfections of marble.

^ agree, we have had ours in a master for 12+ years - still looks nice. Totally agree with it all comes back to your ability to deal with patina as Diana stated so well

I wouldn't put it in a kid's bath, but I have had marble in my bathroom for a long time. Hair dye probably not an issue unless you have a teen girl, but lotions can seep in and stain it. If you put it in a kid's bath stay on top of sealing and remove stains promptly with a poultice. I would use quartz unless you have a high tolerance for "patina" as they say.

There are many vanities that you can order without tops and for me in a kids bathroom I would do granite .
