It looks to be a modified four square so check out that style if the plan is to keep that look I am happy you are removing that paint it is awful but be prepared there might have been a reason.They usually had nice liveable spaces inside ,What is missing is the wounderful big porch on most four squares so maybe think about that as a first big thing to tackle with the help of a good architect who has a feel for that era.

I agree, it's a foursquare with a front gable. The roof is the wrong color, but no need to change it until it reaches the end of its life. You want more gray, less brown in the roof color.

I'd remove the straight line over your wonderful arched windows. It's hard to imagine how you'd add a porch to that house.

Not a porch, but you could enclose the front area and make it into an air lock entry. This will eliminate walking straight into the house on a rainy day. Also will help with the heating bills.
