That color is not Kendall Charcoal. It has a green undertone. Fix it so the deck color relates to the window trim.

I usually like decking to look similar to the interior floor since decks IMO are just an extension of the home .

The decking color you've chosen looks good to me.

I'd be concerned with the fact that there is no roof over the porch, that the boards are constantly exposed to the weather. What you're doing now is replacing the boards, correct? How long ago was the original decking installed?

I'd warrant, that you'd still have nearly new decking if it had been covered by roof.

I realize the expense of adding a roof, but not only will you never have to redo or restain the floor boards, but you will gain much additional space under which to put furniture, etc.

Why not go with a dark brown? It'll blend in with the muddy paws!

I would be more concerned with the lack of flashing (metal piece where ledger board connects to the house) to prevent water intrusion and damage to house and foundation. It will be easier to add now before deck is completed.

I can relate to those who like all one color/tone inside and out but ask yourself what kind of feeling do you want to have and others to have when they see it and spend time on it?

Something brown is outdoorsy and woodsy if you and your guests are nature people. Personally Id go with something with a reddish tone, hate to say Mahogany but have seen such called that. Red tones is warm welcoming and alive. Anything brownish or reddish is more neutral for furnishings accessories etc and a better match for feelings. Do you want a deck to just be there and to walk on or do you want to be inspired and pleased everytime you go outside and/or entertain?

I would pick a new charcoal color that is a closer match to your roof. I dont agree on brown because of the roof color, but, I do agree, brown would hide the dog prints better. I agree with those that said, a roof over that deck would protect it a lot, so you wouldnt have to redo it, for many years, even though a roof could be a bit expensive.

It’s way too blue/gray for a beige house. And IMO it’s too far away from the roof to be matching it to the roof.

Pick something in a tan or brown tone.

Lots of great ideas here for choosing a color for the decking of your lovely home. To add my 2 cents, you might consider complementing the color of your siding with a black or blackish tone for the deck...

Before choosing, though, I’d consult with the paint store rep about the colors and types of paint least likely to show muddy paw prints 🐾

I would also suggest Kendall Charcoal or Iron Mountain. we used the latter and love its gentle tone. Solid stain not paint. Suggest you try a few samples, look at them at different times of the day, because colour changes with light!

You are concerned with muddy paws but you are not going to fix that IMO. I have a light colored concrete walkway to the house and the paw prints come up brown. The hardwood inside is a dark brown and the prints come up grey. I can’t win.
Pick a nice tan. Get a cat.

Having lived in a house with exposed wooden decking in fulll sunlight, I would suggest you look at Azek, Trex, or a similar product and find the color they manufacture that looks best. We replaced the wood decking twice in seven years, installed Azek 8 years before we moved away and it still looked like it was brand new.
