I have a single fronted cottage in Norwood, SA and we are allowed to build up to 3 stories. The original cottage was built in 1910 and the foundations are not suitable for adding another floor or so, however there was an extension added 25 years ago and that would be strong enough to build on top off. I'm thinking of 1 or 2 floors, depending on what we can fit. I also think we'd need to extend towards the rear of the property as the current add-on is only 6m deep. We could push this to 10m or so subject to council consent. Keen to get peoples thoughts on how to approach this? I understand I can engage an architect and perhaps we should, but would like to get floorplan ideas and inspiration prior to engaging the architect.
