Back from MD and the sale/auction

It was a successful trip to MD and the sale/auction. I spent under $100 and came home with a ton of plants. I picked up the following from the sale: MORGAN CLARICE and TRAMPS LIKE US. At the auction, I picked up GET THE POINT (a toothy diploid from Derrow), MEME'S MARGARITA and NEON VIOLET. I was given the following plants from fellow club members: RAGING MANTIS, IT's MILLER TIME, SCARPIA and MEPHISTO WALTZ. So much for trying to downsize. I did bid on HYDRA and DIAMOND BRACELET, but I had a threshold and they went beyond it. Since the auction plants are done alphabetically, I was not sure how much NEON VIOLET was going to go for (and that was my main target), so I was being a little more conservative. It was great fun to see daylily friends and get into some spirited bidding.

Neon Velvet is on Beck's website. Otherwise, I don't see pictures. Out of Stenciled Infusion. I look forward to seeing your experience with Tramps Like Us. How do they determine auction plants?

Auction plants are determined based upon year of introduction and how well it has increased. If they are two years or less, they are auction plants. I also think desireability plays a roll as well. Some of us are into hybridizing and some are about a pretty face. I tend to look at reported plant habit and traits. Get the Point is a toothy diploid and is pink. I plan on using it with some Bennett intros. NEON VIOLET looks interesting and I will put HEART OF THE SEA pollen on it. The eye color and edge color are similar. I hear TRAMPS LIKE US is hard to set pods on, but I will try and also spread its pollen on some other plants.

That sounds like a great haul! It will be interesting to see photos of Get the Point. There are not many toothy diploids out there. Neon Violet is lovely too.
