That is unusual. my biggest concern would be where does heavy rainwater drain to? Is the deck sloped away from the pool….and towards the house? where are the drains?

I dont see gutters on the roofline either.

Im in SoCal and even here we sometimes get so much rain the pool overflows. It needs to have a place to go.

Additionally, you can put the fence where you want but a pool needs to be fenced in somehow. Im not sure about code or insurance requirements, but just general safety and liability are important considerations.

It does currently angle away from the house. So no water goes towards the house. I did also notice there’s no gutters so I will add that. And currently the pool area is fenced off.

As far as pools overflowing, that is a function of the way the pool was designed. I think we had 15" of rain over several hours in my area of FL last week. The pool never overflowed because we had an overflow pipe installed when it was built. It also never gets too low because we also had an auto-filler installed when it was built.

Our large in-ground spa in LA had neither of those and we had to manually fill or siphon the water. I made sure I would never have to do that with a full size pool when we built.
