Opposite foliage and the vein pattern say dogwood. I can't say which one.

As floral says, opposite foliage/stems narrows it down (so eliminates pagoda dogwood), but those types of dogwoods (round, blue-white berries) are quite similar -- silky, gray, red-osier dogwoods would be possibilities.

Looks like Cornus/Swida amomum to me. The fruits of Cornus species in NA are edible except Cornus/Benthamidia floridus. Not all of the species have fruits that are paletable. Cornus amomum fruits taste good and are edible. C. amomum is common on southern Michigan. The leaf undersides should have tiny, rusty colored hairs.

The berries are not poisonous, but the flesh is thin over the hard seed, and it's bitter for sure in my experience. But birds are enthusiastic about them, evidence is all the seedlings around underneath trees and shrubs.
