Ditch the shelves and IMO you never add them until you get something worth displaying. You need some kind of cabinet under the TV maybe w all hung one and the TV hung lower . Less is more is a good way to do decor You need end tables and a new coffee table and lighting . IMO cabinets there will make that wall feel really heavy looking , IMO after end tables and lamps no need for anything else on that wall.

I would look for some pretty curtains for the windows to add some color, then find throw pillows for the couches. I definitely like the layout that Beverly suggested for the two big pieces.

Under the tv you can get a horizontal cabinet that is wall hung.

I agree about the 4 pictures. I am thinking there needs to be a bit more cohesiveness to the space. Wondering about the space of those large loveseats. But it could be the other elements are throwing me off.

Can you sketch a quick pencil drawing of the measurements of the room.. Windows, doors, fireplace?

I love the brick wall and the wood floors. Very great place to start.

Perhaps you should of thought of what you were going to place on those shelves before installing them... I think you have several items to look into before thinking of what you'll place on those shelves. I don't have a floor plan but the furniture layout doesn't look right to me, you need window treatment, a larger coffee table (which you mentioned), and the room needs to be accessorized (side tables, lamps, art, etc.).

Post a floor plan with dimensions showing windows, doors, entrances to the room, etc. in order to make suggestions. A close-up of the area rug for colours would also help...

What space is between the sofa and brick wall with the t v.

The arrangement all should be closer to the t v. Then design the bump out wall area.

Art gone. Replace with a floor height mirror.

Remove shelves and replace with tables, art, lamp, etc.

Once the furniture/rug is moved closer to t v, you may have room for two smaller accent chairs, each in front of the table or chest.

Pick up an accent color from the rug.

I’m going to make some assumptions based on your photos…you live in a row house, the front door is beside the windows, the front door opens across from the steps which is why you’ve no furniture on the brick wall, and you’ve placed the sofas as they are because this room is open to the dining area and since it’s narrower you don’t want to block it. The bump out was also the fireplace originally but has been closed up. Any of this correct?
