Some of my hostas are telling me they are tired. I am letting them know they still have a few months to go. Liberty and Sarendipity are in a race to see who is going to beat who to go to sleep first. Oddly Fragrant Bouquet is looking good. Mental notes from the smart chair are being made right now. Who goes where and who stayes where they are. More sun for Night Before Christmas and way less for Eye Declair. The wheels are turning.

It is still hot. I work in the morning and evenings only. I weed some but mostly just keep up with not letting too much go to seed. I do normally seed the adeniums but they all seeded early for them and now some are rotting off. Urg!

I hope everyone is doing great and are staying cool. The ducks are still learning to fly but I think they will just stay here. So, what are you up too?

Paula, your Fragrant Bouquet is handling the summer well! What crazy colors trying to fool people that might think hostas can look like that. Some of you have probably seen the fake flower photo that looks like a bouquet of cute kitty faces, but when they posted the real thing next to it, it wasn’t even close!

When it comes to gardening, I’ve planted some Echinacea, Banana Cream Shasta Daisies, and more Allium Milleniums. I’ve moved a few things like my struggling hosta Curly Fries and some Campanula that was frying.

I haven’t touched the many Bearded Iris I should move into more sun. I don’t have a place ready for them yet.

And I placed an order for four more hostas that should be here in a day or two. I know where they’re going. One I wanted was sold out because I waited. We’re still hot, but it’s going to get a touch cooler, so the plan is to plant them right away.

I’m getting ready for guests next week. Cleaning, meal planning, shopping, thinking of things to do while they’re here, etc.

And I took my cat Molly to the veterinary hospital this morning. I miss her already! It’s funny how many routines we have with each of our animals. She should be home by early next week or sooner if I’m lucky.

Uh-oh, looks like a deer did this? So far I've been very lucky my deer don't have a taste for hostas. I hope this one spit it out!

Looks like all the "awful" orange, blue, green, etc. poinsettias that I see at nurseries at Christmas time. They somehow get the plants to soak up the colors. Hope I don't offend anyone's feelings but I do like traditional plant colors.

I think those colored hostas are scam sites. Some poor people who really don’t know hostas look like that will lose their money I fear. Hrvk, photoshopped for sure….
Paula, I agree with Ann, your FB looks really good!
My hostas are looking tired too and so am I…… I’m just lacking energy, even though I have been getting plenty of sleep. I’m also aching a lot….. both the fatigue and aches are part of fibromyalgia symptoms.

The work seems to never end here. Deadheading, still got two to plant, the AHS Hosta I’ll Fly Away. I ordered two and will put them together as one to plant. The shade hostas are doing better than the sun ones now which are showing burn. One that always looks good is Sum & Substance:
Still have plenty of hostas that need digging out and tree roots removed. Next year I want to remove the arborvitae on the corners of my house and plant something else. There are so many roots in the beds around those trees…..swallowing up my hostas. I may put flowering plants of some sort….. hydrangeas maybe? We’ll see. That’s it for now.

even if those pink and purple/red hostas were real and available I don’t like them!..
I’ve worked hard planting shrubs..1 oakleaf hydrangea and 3 Korean Spicebush viburnums..
the scapes on Fire Island are pretty..the leaves not so much..I took pictures..

Sandyslopes, your Hibiscus is beautiful and your June Fever is looking really good! I have a Paradise Joyce and that still looks almost perfect. Junes and Halcyons also look good. They’re all in the same family so it makes sense.

debra
