Did your electrician have a drawing to work off of? By how many inches much were the electrical boxes off? Honestly, I'd have the electrician eat the cost of redoing the ceiling if it was his mistake. And yes to what Beverly said. They appear really far apart. Can you show us your light fixtures, their size and a drawing of the space? You do want to get this part really right.

Off topic but just a plug to make sure you choose a fridge with a door that won’t be impeded by that left wall - pretty space!

If it's the electrician's mistake he bears to cost of the fix so ya get what you paid for!! As a rule when all is said and done you will discover this or that you wish were don't differently. Why have this top of the list when you can fix it now???

Thanks, all. My electrician had the following elevation to work off of but not a more specific light plan with lighting measurements. Though I think he should have been able to figure it out from this reference alone. As you can probably tell, my island is currently already slightly further from sink wall and fridge/range wall than specified in this plan. Should I stick to island spacing as it’s drawn?

Here are the pendant lights I’m hoping to use, however, the shades are only 12”. Original design plan called for pendants with 14” shades. Is 14” necessary?

My KD had a lighting plan that went to pieces after they opened the ceiling and saw where the joists were. So that's the first thing that comes to my mind when people have lighting a bit off - where are the joists?

Did you have an elevation? The pic you posted is a layout, not an elevation. And it doesn't appear to have enough information for the EXACT light locations. He probably should have asked or told you he needed a better drawing. Are you acting as GC or do you have a GC. I would say there's blame on you, GC (whover that is) and the electrician. Electricians aren't mind readers....they need exact dimensions.
