Lars, the dark side of the moon never faces the earth. It is actually the far side of the moon and does get sunlight.

“The moon completes one full rotation on its axis in the time it takes to orbit the Earth. That means the same side is always turned toward us.”

I'm thinking Lars meant the dark segment of the moon facing us when it's not full...?

Oh, that could be. 🙂 But only one side of the moon is visible ever from earth whether it’s in the shadow or not. The earth, moon and sun have to be lined up for the full moon. The rest of the time it is in a shadow. We always see the same side. But we never see the ”dark side” or ”far side” of the moon.🌖
