Oh yes I found that and simply melted! What are your thoughts on the plans? There is :

1. one with a composite deck to the fence where the gazebo makes the most space from the door and a privacy screen
2. Full interlock with cedar hedge ( leaving gazebo only 5 ft from door
3. Full interlock with cedars: Gazebo in the lower area

Love the green "wall" but be sure it is properly place father from the patio/deck. As shown those abbreviate will be slopping over into your patio in just a few years. Do you have an ample side yard for play? It appears you are expanding the patio out to the fence. Where's the outside space for boys to play?

Great point on the spacing from the deck! Yes we have a good side yard for the kids- 9.5 ft wide and runs the whole length of the house! Water guns and soccer are the fan favourites plus there is a park with a green space at the end of our road we go most of the time too

I’m prefer the whole thing with a hedge too but I’m worried it will not leave enough space from the house and it will be dark

You don't have a large space, so although this may look good in a picture I think the green wall is bigger and more dominant than the space can handle. I may look for other plant options.

The extra 4' extension will give you more functional space and move the gazebo a bit further from the house. So I would go with the second choice.

Why a hammock or egg chair? I find these to be some of those things that are so much better in our imaginations than in reality. Get good, comfortable seating. A nice comfy glider with a foot stool is my preference.

Is your gazebo going to be completely covered? I use my gazebo area for my outdoor cooking because I can use it in the rain.

My patio is 15x30 so you can get a feel for what fits in the space. (Added 10 feet - someday will get the surface coated with something so it looks better.

I need to actually know the size of the space no where do you give us those measurements .

I am leaning toward a the deck option because the gazebo with interlock wouldn’t leave enough space between the house and the gazebo. For this reason I am leaning toward extending the deck to the fence. I also think the hedge won’t be as dominating. We would repurpose my existing composite decking and the tone would play nicely with the inlay border. Rigged up a little mock up:)

You picked the same design that I would have picked. It is the best utilization of space.

Are you okay with the grill off the side of the deck or will you be adding some sort of platform for the grill?

I honestly don't think you can fit that much furniture into the space.

Try playing with furniture in 2D.

I like the deck option. Any time you can gain a little extra usable space in a tighter space, I think that’s key!

Thanks Jennifer for rigging this up! This is perfect ! And exactly what I was thinking too:) i appreciate your input and reinforcement of my thought process! The extra 5-6 feet I would gain with the deck definitely makes all the difference. I was thinking of just putting the grill on the deck against the house, not looking to make a fuss of it. Just need it to be accessible!

I don't know how often you grill - between my grill, smoker and new griddle I do outdoor cooking about 3 times a week and often do full meals. I don't think I will ever make bacon in the house again - too easy on the griddle without any of the grease and mess in the kitchen. I need space near the cooking area for my foods and plates and tools, so I wanted a table in the cooking area.

Your family may do more sitting outside and watching the kids play than cooking. Some people rarely use their grills. My sister just gave hers away because my nephew wanted a grill and they hardly used theirs.

The most important thing is that the space works for your family and accommodates the activities that you want to do in your outdoor space.
