We have an older propane fireplace style heater that is oversized for the room it’s in, and we have to shut it off after 10-15 minutes to let the room cool down. It has a 29,200 BTU output, and a switch and rotary fan speed control on the wall. I don’t know if it ever had a remote, probably not.

I’m wondering if we can replace it with a new one that has less output without having to rework the entire fireplace surround and hearth tile. The old one measures 36W x 32H on the part that is exposed next to the tile.

We asked a local fireplace guy about it, and he said it was not possible. Looking for another opinion. thanks.
