Rug layout in living room

Hi all,


Would love some help in which direction a rectangular rug should be placed in our living room: (A) the longer side runs north-south (1st pic) or (B) the longer side runs east-west (2nd pic)?


Note: Rectangles in pictures are not quite to scale.
