Please help me decorate my Living/Dining area in the new apartment

Please help me with the décor items for the Living/Dining rooms in my apartment. Things like wall art (this is my main concern - empty walls, where to drill holes, what to put up, what kind of art, etc.), vases, etc. to make it look modern and light/neutral - that I can buy on Amazon/Wayfair/West Elm/Home Goods.

See the photos below (2 photos of the living room and 2 of the adjacent dining area).

Do you own or rent ? I dislike a ton of shelves that hold a bunch of stuff to fill them and that stuff should never have been bought. IMO if own then remove all that shelving where you have the TV and wall mount the TV above that closed cabinet I would start by adding art you love and honestly take your time to find only things you love good design is not instant .

I own. We recently bought this apartment, painted the walls and bought the new furniture. The shelving removal is a bit difficult - requires a board approval, and a licensed contractor to do quite a bit of work. For now, focusing on making this look better without this major investment.

A bit hard to tell your style but I would lean toward larger pieces on the wall vs shelves - Anthropologie has large paper tapestries that are a total steal, might be something to check out -

I would also focus on getting some nice lamps for the living area -

Ahy not just cover those shelves in the LR so thay look like the panels in the DR then. I usde Art.com for clients often if they are not into original art . The prints there often come in different sizes too. Yes you need lighting and again take your time. I would really like to see the coat rack gone it is not attractive where it is . Mirrors IMO only hung where they reflect something worth seeing twice so no to above the FP. No fake plants ever .Drapes can be a nice place to add abit of color use the rug for that choice . Another spot is cor a couple of pillows on the sofa not the matching ones there . So end tables table lamps for sure art chosen slowly to be what you love nad slow down to make this trully your space not Wayfair 's catalougue. You never leave thetable st until you are ready to eat ir the space will look again like a department store . Start an idea book with pics of spaces you like the looks of . That gives us some clue as to your style

I keep asking everyone about the empty walls in both living and dining, but the folks are commenting on the other stuff. My main concern is the bare walls. Would something like this work? Any other ideas/suggestions? Want to add that we plan to replace the sofa in the living with the one of grey or light grey color in the future.

Jason, both of your posts seem to want very specific art recommendations or thumbs up, and where to drill holes. But the actual furniture locations, dimensions ( height of seating, for example) , which way are views, wall dimensions, aren’t shown.

Frequent advice is to choose what you love and let it work no matter what. But I understand that doesn’t work for everyone , plus, size, weight matters ( for sure people get told, that’s way too big! That’s way too small! ). Plus I wonder if it’s really important to you that art colors match other decor? And it sounds like you’re very worried about having bare wall space, when I think you could take some time to get some of your furniture arranged first. It’s a process! Especially not wanting to keep changing where the nail holes are.

I’m sorry that I won’t post any art links to help. But, if I were trying to evaluate, yeah, that looks good! — there is not enough to go on.

Our recommendation would be to find artwork you love, add some plants, and to add a rug. Please see some of our living room and dining room designs. We think looking at them might aid you with your dilemma.
