Galley Kitchen Layout

We are renovating our galley kitchen, this will involve demoing a partition wall between the dining room and kitchen, and widening an opening between our breakfast area to the living room. The dining area is to the left of the refrigerator, and the living room is directly behind the range wall. We will be using JSI Trenton Ivory Cabinets, WOW Turques Mestizaje Zellige backsplash tiles, and Ethos Quartz countertops.

I would like some feedback on our layout, we will be gaining one foot of counters pace on each side of the cooktop, and two feed to the right of the refrigerator.

Thanks in advance!

Countertop and backsplash, we plan on using the “decor” variation for a 30”x30” square directly behind cooktop.

The trend for awhile has been to move away from doing something different behind the cooktop. I think it may be a better choice to not use something different behind the cooktop.

What do your cabinets + flooring look like?

Trenton ivory recessed panel, and a light wood tone LVP

I too have a galley and get the importance of getting as much storage as possible out fof them. What do you intend to store in .your sink side base cabinets? Curious about if you want some of those as drawers too.

I'd make the uppers on either side of the hood 36" wide instead of 18". You can store so much more in a single 36" wide as opposed to 2 cabinets 18".

Why so much empty space between the doorway and the microwave set of cabinets?

I'd compare accessability with frameless IKEA cabinets. Full frame subtracts 3" from each cabinet width. An example is the 4 18" wall cabinets on the range run. Each cab has only a 15" opening. IKEA has a 36" wide wall cabinet with no center vertical stile to block. . .All lowers can be drawers. A single bowl sink is the current choice for most kitchens. A 30" base is enough for a 27" undermount sink. A galley kitchen can often benefit from 28-30" deep counters for more workzone function. It depends on the width of your space., not shown. And traffic considerations. A 36" exhaust hood is standard for a 30" range. An induction range would be my choice.

The point of the 18” cabinets is so that they can be left opening and right opening which allows you to reach into the cabinet from the range on all four cabinets. I wanted at least one regular base cabinet - the two 18” base cabinets are trash can pull out and kitchenaid stand (maybe). The rendering should have a wider doorway - we are widening the opening and leaving about one foot for light switches.

Thoughts? Maybe reaching into the uppers from the range is not necessary with the pullouts on the bae on both sides?

Dan we will be going with an induction range and I will take your advice on the 36” hood.
