There is no way we can help you with this just going by images. We can guess at a few things by the direction of the floorboards, but we can’t really know. You just bought the house. You may not know if there have been other structural changes from previous owners. At some point you will have to call someone to take a look.

Speaking of floorboards, yours look a little cupped. It’ll work out, I’m sure.

I'm thinking the joists run across the same direction as the wall you're talking about modifying. The skylight gives it away. That likely means the whole wall can come out without anything left at the ceiling. Then you've got plenty of room for a new design. Measure and use graph paper to set the dimensions down. Include all windows and doors. Do you have a slab or crawlspace/basement?
