Pretty color. Trying to figure the hallways out - entry hall next to DR with the paint & looks like the long hallway with white closed door at one end is same as where curious & pretty dog is standing at the other end of it & that hallway is at right angles to entry hall….?? Seems to me you have lots of obvious stopping points so you would not have to paint all the way up the stairs. You’re right that the color will look different in different lighting. I suggest you paint a couple pieces of very large poster board & tape them up on walls to look at color in different lighting at different times of day. I think this color would be great in your entry that’s next to DR & wouldn’t be as intense if you don’t paint the closet doors but leave them the white to match trim. If you want to paint the halls that don’t receive natural light & this color is too dark, try cutting the color by 50% - same color tone but not as intense. Also remember that the color of your electric lighting will affect the wall color look. You might need to change from warm tones to daylight or up the lights to brighter bulbs. Your hallway looks familiar - you had a wallpaper question I think - are you still considering paper? More $$ for sure but also brings color & texture to a space.

I'm including a pic from the front door which hopefully shows the lay out a little clearer. Hallway goes to the right and up the stairs to the left. If I go into the hallway or the stairs at all there isn't any stopping point, but I could do just the entry way. Lightening by 50% is a great idea! And yes, good eye with my hallway!! I'm definitely still considering paper but I got so many no's on that post I started thinking of other ideas!

Chelsea - I looked at your wallpaper in hall post & am thinking I agree with no paper. I looked at your other posts to see more of your home. You’ve done a great job making it look welcoming & a bit elegant too. Nice job with the add on room - I think that’s the great room with the piano. I do agree some color would be a nice add to your home. Did you paint the inside of shelving in great room as was suggested? Sounded like you did like the idea. If not, a 50% version of your color might be great for the shelving. I see crown in all of the pics but can’t tell about entry hall - is there crown there? If not, it would be a good add for elegance. How about a ceiling light in hall? Is there a light & what’s it look like? It’s the perfect spot for a bit of glam. I’d paint the hall same color as DR & stop at end of hall. The entry hall has nice amount of light from windows in DR & from the entry door. Then I’d try the lighter color version on poster board for the enclosed hallway on first floor but looks like you’d need to also include & paint the wall opposite the bannister. There’s not a natural stop between the stair hall & downstairs hall on that side. But, you’d see a bit of the lighter version of the color when you stand at front door & look towards great room. My thought is doing one step at a time then stop & consider whether or not to proceed with full upstairs hall.

Thank you for the suggestions and taking the time to go through my other ones!! I need to post some updated pics because I definitely take a lot of suggestions but I have not painted the shelves yet. I really want to but now I think I may want to do the whole thing a different color, I just don't know what (story of my life)! The hallway light is just an ugly boob light that definitely needs update. Love the idea of adding some glam! Thank you!!

Paint like a light green but try to go for a light color or repaint that same color but change the door color

Chelsea - the light you have in hall is pretty underwhelming! If you’re wanting to add color & nicer look, changing out the light is the first thing I’d do. That’s the first impression guests have upon entering your home. It’s a change that will give you lots of bang for your bucks since your entry is on full view from so many areas of your home. If you do get a new light, consider the chandelier that I’m guessing is in DR right next to entry - you want to coordinate these two lights since they’re so close together view wise. Don’t know how high your entry hall ceiling is but guessing 9’ based on space above door. If you don’t have room for a hanging light there are many choices with semi flush light fixtures. That will be a definite upgrade from the ’boob’ light!

I like your hallway. Nice color. I am afraid that would be too dark...no windows. But color is really deep and nice. It would look different than in your dining room.

Of course, the best way to know is to paint a sample board (not a wall !!) with the Templeton Gray and just move that board around. If you have some of it left over, that will work for this purpose.

I think it will make the hallway very dark and not in a good way. Is there someplace else in the house you can use it such as a feature wall? Behind shelving? you may just have to settle with loving it in the dining room.

I could see it working in an intimate space like a powder room.

No not for hallway or stairway unless you want to put it down at a 25% tint that might work
