Experience with Upper Cabinet Pull Downs?

last modified: 2 years ago

I'm considering getting a Rev-a-Shelf pull down for over my refrigerator. I'm tall enough to open the cabinets and grab something that's fairly close to the bottom of the upper cabinet, but not a whole lot higher (eliminating the Hafele iMove as an option, because the handle sits inches higher than the shelf so it would be hard to reach.)

Neither of these add much shelf space (the shelves are only about 6" front to back) but right now I don't use the cabinet at all. If someone has the R-a-S version, some questions:

  • Do you find it easy to push back up again? (I'm not too concerned about pulling down, because gravity.)
  • Is it secure enough to absolutely never bump against whatever is below / behind it when pulled down? I don't want to risk bumping my paneled refrigerator. (The pulls are low enough that they won't interfere.)
  • Any pros or cons you want to share?

Also if you have another brand to recommend, please let me know. (There are lots of knock offs, but some are cheap enough that I'm wary of quality. Also I'd like to order through my cabinet maker and have them install it.)

Pictures for context. Rev-a-Shelf I'm considering:

I've also considered getting a step stool if I can find one narrow enough to store in my pullout, where the tall section is only 12" wide. Or, I can drag a chair over, or just continue not using the space (but I have some things that I think would be good to put there and I hate to waste the space.)
