Is it possible to send us a photo of the art work and the wall in question? Do you have furniture for this room? This size art might look amazing, but it could also be too overwhelming. How high are your ceilings?

The ceilings are 8'. Here is a photo of the room/wall and mood board with planned furniture. The art is included in the mood board. I have the dining table and chairs already. We are remodeling, so please ignore the floor, wall color, etc (and gray boxes to "erase" the kiddos ;)).

Who the heck needs art with that view!!?? Can you tape it out on the wall to see> My gut is it will work assuming minimal window treatments and other wall decor.

If the rendering portrays the view, instead of art, I'd put more window there.

To me, and I have a little experience in art, the picture you show has many similarities to the views out your windows. Choose a piece of art that will enhance the space and the view and not mimic it. Perhaps hold off buying the art and live in the space for some time to determine what the space needs.

It still needs to be shown in the place but I think larger art is always nicer compared to small pieces in some kind of "gallery' . I often use oversized pieces . As for that piece IMO it is an original and could be kind of interesting that it mimics the view .I have a fab view or 300 degtess from my LR window and still hang art in that space . IMO art you love is always right

First off, I'd wait until the room is furnished before hanging artwork. That's dead last in the series of steps you need to take to decorate/furnish a room.

Second, if the artist mistakenly sent you the wrong size print, then contact him/her. You shouldn't be accessorizing a room around someone else's mistake.

We feel very blessed for our condo to have this view. We had hoped this specific unit would become available, and now we get to make it our own.

This is a vacation property, so I can’t preview the print in the space until our next trip. I am going to contact the artist. Embarrassingly, I didn’t notice the size issue when I received the print and only now when I was going to frame it. It’s been 3 months and the terms and conditions give 24 hrs to resolve issues, so we’ll see.

I have a 36 x 48 piece hanging in my dining room on an 8 x 8 foot wall. I like the impact of larger pieces. I love your mood board!

The artist replied quickly and is going to send the correct sized print.

I agree with the comments about large art and better oversized than undersized. Both sizes (framed with a mat for the 24x36" and framed without a mat for the 36x48") technically follow the "rules" but with the view and combined living/dining room, I'm afraid such a big print would overwhelm the space. I want it to be a nice compliment to the room, and not compete with everything else going on for attention.

I agree with Patricia on large art vs a bunch of smaller art, but you also don't want something that is too large for the space, and you can get too big.

The Golden Ratio for a 78" wall (the space remaining after the window treatment) is 48.2" That is the ideal width, including the frame.

I would use the larger print that you were sent and do a simple frame, little or no mat.

Does the art NEED a mat? Did you have the option of a wrapped canvas vs. a print? Your print is horizontal not vertical in orientation. I can envision vertical art in that space, given the horizontal orientation of your windows and view. Perhaps the art can go in another room? Just a thought…. GORGEOUS view!
