Need a distinction between living and office

What to do with this room?

Wondering if any creative minds can help me do something with this room I have. This is the first room you see upon entering the house. With working from home since covid, I’ve had to move my work area into this room so my husband could have the office since he needs more privacy. This room has become the catch all - the landing spot for many things. I want to make this room more welcoming especially because we’ll be hosting Thanksgiving again this year. We used to have a couch in this room but it’s not really used for sitting or lounging. I’m open to all suggestions including wall decor! I’m not the biggest fan of what we have on the wall but it’ll have to do for now. There’s also an ugly little door/cover to the electricity panel behind the mirror so I’d like to keep the mirrors where it’s at.

I would take everything out of the room (except computer station). Then try putting the black piece perpendicular to the window wall. What is in the baskets on that piece? If it can be used for shoes etc. face the basket side out. If not face it in for toys, etc. The mirror is just odd - paint the ugly little door the color of the walls. Lower the art. Post a picture once you've done thos things so we can what else the room can be used for

The diamond pattern welcome mat? Lose it and buy a replacement that is less industrial looking. Are you able to turn this area into the TV/living room so anyone entering the house will see something besides a mess? The area behind the half wall could be the playroom/ office. Once the ugly door is painted to blend in with the wall--put a tall plant in front to further disguise it.

You might look at placing the desk facing the window. This will give you a nice space to look at, and then maybe look at adding a bench to take shoes off and a console table to place keys on. Then decide if you want to add anything else. You could do an art station in the corner where the desk is now, a yoga mat for some stretching, you could do a book shelf for books and a library, etc.
