Dark countertops with a dark backsplash can be very dramatic, however, not necessarily condusive to prepping meals. If you go that route, make sure you have adequate lighting, including undercabinet.

I personall would choose a lighter colored backsplash with a banding of the darker color or even deco tiles.

The picture shows some deco tiles and a banding. Picture them in colors that you love!

Totally agree with Pamela, dark counters + dark backsplash= dark workspace without proper lighting.

Thank you for your comment, I too are still not sure if it will be to dark or not... In the sample is my sample cabinet door, the brown porcelain tile that will be cut into 2x6's and laid subway style, the glass accent band and a piece of our maroon cohiba granite. We were told by the designer that because our cabinets finish had a yellow tone to them, that it would be better to go with a contrasting backsplash tile. I just don't know....Nothing is ordered yet.
