Lots better than the small white one, and I think you could go even larger for the basket.

The basket is much better than the too small white planter. I suspect that the reason that you're not liking it is because of the color which is close to the color of the floor. You might like a clay/ terra cotta pot better. Color would work nicely.

Shea, I meant to say the whole room looks nice! The color, texture and size of the basket seem a good fit to me.

@ci_lantro I think you're right about the color of the basket being close to the color of the floor. I liked the pop of the white and am considering something like this instead. I just switched to the basket last night, so going to let it marinate for a few days.

That planter is perfect for your dining room with your art and rug!

I have a couple of tall faux olive trees, one at home (because of cats who will chew to death any living plant and who needs that size of a vet bill?) and one at the office. They came as most do in tiny pots. I promptly stick them in oversized pots, surround them with pretty rock to fill the gap between the two pots and then cover them in rich-looking soil. Just doing that gives them an astonishingly lifelike appearance.

@Aphaea I'm a big fan of this stuff when I use baskets. I have used real mulch in a couple other planters and it really helps bridge the gap between real and fake.
