Ooh, nice pics. I love finding bird's nest mushrooms. So tiny and so cute. I have not noticed that they hasten any decay of mulch and it's hard to believe they'd have much of an impact, being tiny and not widespread.

Bird's nest fungi are saprophytic, meaning they feed on decomposing organic matter. So not at all surprising to see them popping up in mulch. Like other saprophytic fungi, they do indeed hasten the decomposition of woody mulch but all the work is done by the actual microscopic fungal organisms themselves, not the fruiting bodies we see as mushrooms.

I thought artillery fungus was what created issues on siding/cars/etc. if located nearby - not bird's net fungus. I've had bird's nest fungus before - I was concerned that it was artillery fungus - but it wasn't. It was located near one part of my house - I had zero issues re: any type of staining.

EDIT - I confirmed that my understanding above is correct. They are two different types of fungus. While the little "seed" in bird's nest fungus sometimes splash out and may attach to your house (or whatever) - they are easily removed and do not leave stains.
