I am not even close to an expert in design - however, it seems like the headboard and side tables at the top of your bed are very light/airy compared to the heavy looking upholstered bench at the end of your bed. The style of the pieces don't seem to work together.

The side tables also seem a bit too "matchy" for the headboard.

I don't dislike any of the pieces on their own - it just seem to not work with the way you're using them in your bedroom.

You also need a nice piece of art for over your bed - the room is a bit sterile looking with so much white.

You need some texture to help soften the space (drapes/textured pillows/etc.)

I assume some more experienced people and pros will chime in and offer you some help - just thought I'd add my thoughts + bump it back up to the top of the list.

Thank you, Dani! I completely agree with you!! Luckily this was the staged furniture in the home so trying to get a sense of what would go in here instead. I definitely did not love most of the pieces from the staging, it just seemed a bit off!

Everything is a gray, gray, gray that's a depressing color for a bedroom. The current room lacks pattern, color, and texture. Easiest fix is to paint the room a pinkish white. Sherman Williams' Alabaster has a hint of pink in it, but it's a white that leans ivory but with a pink tinge. (The pink adds warmth, but you can't tell it's even in the white paint. Try a sample from the warm end of the paint deck but away from any yellow.)

--Add ceiling to floor light ivory curtains.

--Replace bedpillows with ivory shams and add a patterned or solid blush or gold pillow that echoes an art work above the bed (see below)

--Replace solid throw with ivory and gray pattern very textured.

--Add painted ivory or wood nightstands.

--Above all, add a dreamy horizontal landscape art work above the bed of the outdoors. This will give the feeling of another window.

This palette would also work--pinks, blacks, gray but horizontal. You can search for colors on Etsy for art prints. Or Society6.com for colors and sizes.

A skyscape like this only horizontal with hints of pink or gold. Then coordinate your pillows.

To sum up: repaint the room a white with hint of pink. Add art work above the bed, long ivory curtains, patterned ivory and gray throw, possible wood nightstands.

Lindsay - you used the word "we" in your post - do you have a male partner that will be sharing the room? Some males are against any hint of pink in a bedroom (funny - because originally pink was used for boys a long time ago). Other men are fine with adding pink shades.

For example, I change bedding colors fairly often (I have a linen addiction! Seriously - you should see how many linen duvet covers/shams/sheets/pillowcases I have - it's a bit crazy). Sometimes I use a charcoal linen duvet cover + will throw in some plum/fushia/or even lighter striped pink sheets/pillowcases or throws as accent colors - my partner is fine with it - some men would not like those colors in their bedroom). So, I love housegal200's ideas.

I also learned something about SW Alabaster - I didn't know that it had a hint of pink to it - the exterior of my house is SW Alabaster - of course, it looks like a much brighter white outdoors than indoors.

Instead of the bench at the foot of the bed, consider having a comfy chair/ottoman in the room. Need a wood element of some kind to kind of balance out with the bathroom doors. When budget allows consider a semi flush or chandelier for lighting.

Assume all staging futniture is gone?

In order to know what you are drawn to, look at master bedrooms on Pinterest and Houzz and if prefer a certain style, add its name into the search. Given the rustic feel of the barn door and if you like modern farmhouse, that could be a good start, as it’s cozy.

The decor choices in your (saved) pictures may help with decisions and also look at mood boards.

Echoing some of the suggestions above. Add curtains--window panels! Add more substantial size nightstands. Add statement chandelier.

I'm really confused. You said you don't like the furniture but then you said it is staged furniture. Do you own or intend to keep any of this? Are you just starting from scratch with an empty room and will be purchasing everything new? If so, what is your style?

The barn door is really heavy and I think you need some furniture with a bit of heft to balance it out.

I, too, am confused. Is this your furniture to keep or just the staging furniture that you're posting to show what you DON"T like? If you own it, you could easily pad out the headboard and add a fabric slipcover over top. If you don't own it and are shopping for new, post some pics of rooms you like and what you like about them. I agree that the tables are all wrong for beside tables. I'd look for some wood ones to complement the barn door (if you like the barn door color). If you don't like it, then think about replacing it with something more refined or paint it to match the walls. I would focus on window coverings because it looks like the neighbors windows peer right into your bedroom. Looks like if you did shades on the top part of the windows you could block their views in and you could still have the bottom part uncovered for light and view of daylight when you want.

It's STAGING. You haven't moved in. You have nothing right now in your current home? Starting from scratch?

The first thing you do is post some images, of bedrooms you love. You measure the room, the windows and where they are. The openings, closet, bath etc and where they are.

The photo appears fake. Completely fake. All of it.

Or you are "designing" an imaginary space: ) for you or someone else. If so ? Get rid of the barn doors, unless the home is indeed.....a barn.

I love gray bedrooms but we have no real clear idea of your style so this is one of my faves for inspiration. I do think bedrooms are a space where what you love is the plan the master can be atoatlly different style even than the rest of the house it is a private space .Strat with the bed in your idea book

Yes, its real I promise :) lol! Its a new home my husband and I purchased and this is/was the staging furniture which has already been removed but we have not closed yet so I am unable to take photos of the home. These are simply the listing photos!

Firstly a king or cal king would fit the wall better. Other than that it’s a pretty blank slate. What do you like? I would want some sort of blind/ shade for light control. Drapes for texture. Upholstered headboard or upholster the wall. Antique nightstands. But that’s me! Oh and the barn door would be replaced with a real door!

If you are keeping the barn door, add some black accents:

@jan they probably staged with a full/queen to make the room more ‘spacious’ even though it was clearly designed for a king. It was probably cheaper too

I would get rid of the barn door. Rip the wall to wall carpet for a wood or wood look floor, add an area rug and get rid of the unaatractive ceiling light . Start there.

If you plan to re use any furniture? YOU NEED TO SHOW WHAT YOU HAVE. and say what you need......such as tv, a dresser etc
