James Hardie Chestnut Brown

last year

We are doing a small addition to your 7yo house. Chestnut Brown was the siding that was installed. We are trying to find the color equivalent. We were told by Hardie reps that it is no longer sold in stock and it now in the Dream Collection named Anchor Brown. I ordered a sample and they do not match. Chestnut has some caramel undertones, where as Anchor Brown appears to have more black added to it to make it a darker brown.

Has anyone tried to match Chestnut Brown? Or any of the "retired" colors in the 2012-2020 pallete board with the Dream collection equivalent?

It appears many of the colors in the older pallete board that was stock colors have moved such as - Sail Cloth, Navajo Beige, Woodland Cream, Harris Cream, Tuscan Cream and more.

The Dream Collection, from my understanding, are now "custom" colors and it takes 4-6 weeks to get.

I reached out to James Hardie back in 2023 and blindly trusted that Anchor Brown is the old Chestnut Brown. I was also told that it would take about 2 weeks to get my product once ordered. It's now 5-6 weeks, so I'm a little frustrated.

Looking for others experience and how they solved the issue. Painting primed Hardie isn't necessarily and option as the original and painted will definitely fade at different rates and times. Live in an HOA so picking a complementary color is also not an option, especially since 3 of the walls but up to the original walls.

Thanks.

Attached is a photo of the comparison of the Anchor Brown sample against Chestnut Brown.
