I love your pendants. I would go with one for better balance.

We have 7.5’ ceilings and used minimal pendants. the sara from tech lighting.that where not too bulky with the shorter height.

You don't want a hang lower than 33" from the counter top.

That means a TOTAL length of 21 inches for pendants, including the mount

What's the length of the island? .......72 inches?

I think those pedants are way too big for the space and the island I like those cylinder ones posted but they might be too long .

The stools and pendants are too large. You can also go with lower wattage in the pendants since they will be close together.

Stools need to be smaller..but the lights are really nice…I like bigger …..but thats just me.

If interested, to tie in the brass consider changing hardware.

Can you get the same lights you have in a smaller size?

The pendants i posted above are 5.9”x2.6”. they do come in other sizes but with 7.5’ ceilings i wouldn't go larger. i think for your Island the smaller width would be better too.

I happen to like them. A lot. But if you're going to change them, I'd maybe switch to a single linear fixture that's super simple.

5’ island is pretty common for smaller kitchen..just have fun! I would work on the stools! they are a much bigger problem.

@wsea i agree with you. i think smaller would look more natural. The one Maureen posted above is 8 inches wide by 5.8 in high. i think that would fit nicely. For reference, the ones in the picture are 15 inches wide

@Hellogardener i dont think these ones come in a smaller size, only bigger. The ones Maureen sent look similar to this one and are 5.8 by 8, instead of 12 x 15 (which is what is in the picture)

I think you need a few more recessed light, so you aren't relying on the pendants to provide most of the light in the kitchen.

When I look at your picture all is see is lights, then have to look a second time to see your lovely kitchen. Therefore if it were me I would get smaller, I'm not a pro though.

@doods My thoughts exactly as well. I think smaller lights will make the kitchen more balanced and you’ll able to see the actual kitchen more. but also im not a pro so thats why i brought the question here

I think you have already decided on smaller..boy hate to have you remove those very stylish pendants...if you go smaller I would just match them with the sink pendants..…or remove them and add 2 more can lights..that would open up that low ceiling…if that is what is bothering you…and add new stools.

I also really like the look of your pendants. Would using only one centered on the island work? I am thinking about only using one light fixture over my island - or simply not installing one - and putting in recessed/canned lights instead as suggested by Home Interiors with Ease.

Have you tried using the balloon trick in order to determine the diameter/placement of your pendants? If you hang balloons that are the same diameter of the pendants you are considering, you will be able to picture what that size will look like in your kitchen.

There are quite a few nice kitchens that have been posted on Houzz that don't have pendants over the island.

@dani_m08 i like the look of the pendants too, but i dont think they fit in the kitchen, they look bulky and are closer to the ceiling which makes the ceiling look lower than it already is. Im going to try one like Maureen suggests above, with a smaller fixture. recessed lighting would look good here too.
