TINY 1/2 bath. design help needed!

last modified: 2 years ago

Bath is 2’8” wide. Going with Koehler memoirs toilet and looking for a sink that extends into bathroom less than 9 or 10 inches. Duravit perhaps. But, I’m only finding very minimalist/modern sinks. Also looking for a coordinated faucet and bathroom hardware set ( hand towel rod, tp holder maybe even mirror with medicine cabinet storage if that exists. And sconces! So many decisions! Hope some savvy design minds can weigh in!

If anyone can source these fixtures (faucet etc) may just go with these. But was hoping to find sink with some detail / bevel if possible

No, this is pic of a bathroom that I found that looks great and looks like similar dimensions. I am going with the toilet and am thinking about doing bead board on bottom instead of the wainscoting. I like the navy blue also. But would love to source this hardware. Also considering putting sconces on back wall as pic due to space

Is this the same style as the rest of your home? I often like PRs to be a bit different . I never use reuseable hand towels only dipsoible ones i find it yucky to use a towel someone has used So a nice wall mounter holder for that I guess i need to know what you need to store in a medine cabinet. I love the rectangult wall sink but I hate that toilet sorry but it is hard to clean and there is nothing wrong with a nice simple one piece toilet even in that style of PR . You could still do a more traditional faucet and sconces IMO

Hi house is a 1910 craftsman and we’re renovating the ancient enclosed porch to include a mudroom and very tiny powder room. I think the wainscoting is too fancy for the house (although I love wainscoting). We are planning to do bead board ceiling in the rest of the porch renovation so I thought for powder room we could flip it and do drywall ceiling with bead board half wall like shown.

So I thought the toilet calls for a little more detail on the sink ? Would love suggestions for a hand towel holder on wall. Just keep in mind that this is the tiniest powder room ever so need to maximize space. Perhaps a holder could go in between studs?

I have a neighbor that did something similar and sourced the bathroom sink from Germany (where she is from) (oh, also, her sinks had red!), but I found this website that shows the same idea:

    https://www.vintagetub.com/bathroom/bathroom-sinks/wall-mount-sinks.html

I realize this is a couple inches more than the depth you want, but maybe that gives you that traditional look you want.

If not, I would just go ahead and use the rectangular/straight lines look. I've seen plenty of beautiful traditional bathrooms where the designer/homeowner went with an absolutely modern-looking toilet (for example).

I have a kohler memoirs toilet, and (1) it isn't the best toilet in the house, and (2) yes, it's definitely annoying to clean the curves. If I had to do it again, I'd choose a different one for the function alone.

However, I do understand that if it's just a guest bathroom and not the most-used bathroom in the home, that the aesthetics may outweigh the perceived/possible functionality.

Sorry, this is my 2nd edit. Upon looking at your inspiration photo again, I would just go with the sink in the photo. It looks lovely in there. And when inches are at stake, go with the slimmer.

I'll have to hunt down where I saw it, but we are looking at wall-hung sinks for our small primary bath and I saw one towel rod that ran below the sink so that the towel hung below the basin. It seemed like a neat idea for a tight space. We have a wall-mounted ring already that we will keep, so don't need it for our space, but it might work for this.

ETA—oh, ha, it was in an actual store! So not sure where online one buys things like that, but it looks like this. They had different sizes for different depth sinks. I prefer a wall-hung ring if there's room but this seemed like an interesting solution where there's not.

For sinks, I like the Duravit 1930 line if their tiny basin might work. Whitehaus has some more traditional small sinks too but I don't think they're that shallow.

Maybe you can show the entire mud/ powder room plan? Walls windows, feet inches, etc? Two dimensions. to scale and upload as a jpeg.

Wainscot and bead board are pretty similar and many times the same thing. What exactly are you planning to use?

IMO in a tiny space nothing add to the walls even 1/4" makes adifference I would do wallpaper and the whole space it will make the space feel bigger I promise . I did this sink in a tiny space it was from Italy but now many are avaiable I amde the counter 12" deep but the sink was 8" I think

Yes, your powder room is tiny. Mine is a veritable giant at 36” wide! I used a wall mount sink with some space on the sides for soap and guest towels.

I like the wainscoting but maybe the dark blue can be something lighter to help “open up” the room. I also used wallpaper above mine.

Gorgeous! What sink is this? Likely too wide for us but it’s beautiful

Got it from Home Depot. This one is the one in my bathroom but they may make a 25”.
