Wood Harbor Cabinet Service/Delivery

last year

My husband and I had Wood Harbor cabinets installed in our kitchen in a remodel that started in October 2023 and finished in early May 2024.

The cabinets were Wood Harbor. I never heard of them before and am sorry we didn’t have drawers instead of cabinets. They are very deep.

We had a falling out with our design build company as they destroyed our French drain, an exterior light fixture, a pella door, purchased the wrong brand of doors and window and performed shoddy electrical work.

I ordered 8 sets of pull out drawers for the island and 4 lower cabinets in early August and was told 8 weeks. It was the end of September when they arrived.

The drawers arrived without the kits to install them. When I called the sales woman she accused me of lying. I sent her pictures and FaceTimed her to show that the gray foam packing material was not the kit on the packing list.

I have since received in piecemeal - the pilasters, and the brackets and screws. The one significant remaining main parts are the rails on which the drawers glide.

Has anyone else had issues like this with Wood Harbor? I looked how far away they are and it is a 17 hour drive from where I live. It would be a nice trip if I stopped in Ohio, Iowa, and Wisconsin to visit family, but I want to work on finishing my kitchen and go back to my other hobbies. That is not a road trip I want to take at this time of year.

This should have taken me, on my own, all of a day to do.

So, your question is whether other people have had similar problems with this company? Ive never heard of them, maybe someone else has. Good luck.

I've heard of Wood Harbor...it's an upper middle to top of the line cabinet, if I remember correctly.

So your issue is, you regretted not getting more drawers (as opposed to doors), so you decided to order roll out shelving for each of the standard base cabinets? And instead of sending you the complete rollout kits....they sent just the boxes? So now they are sending you the guides separately?

Who was the sales woman? From your design/build firm? Or from Wood Harbor? Wood Harbor really only work direct with their clients (the design build firm). I would call and ask for the travelling rep's name, email and phone. Then see if he can straighten out the order for you. Are you wanting new kits sent? I'm not sure I understand what you are wanting either.

Looks like you have their frameless series? Do your drawers open OK in the corner? Looks tight for frameless.

I think it is probably mostly resolved. The design/build company didn’t ask many question and tried to change the initial design a lot. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much discussion on the cabinets. I requested carousels for the corners and didn’t get that.

I would have preferred drawers for the bottom cabinets, didn’t get that and after my blow with the design/build company at the end due to them destroying a French drain, Pella door, exterior light fixture, failure to remove the travel bolts in a washing machine, throwing out the mounting bracket for the dryer and the dishwasher as well as the kick plate for the dishwasher, I ordered the pullout drawers from the supplier that the design/build company used. The drawers showed without screws or pilasters or the correct brackets.

When the sales lady was called, she thought the foam to protect the drawers was the kit. I asked her to come and measure and she said she’d rely on the design/build’s plans.

Now 4 drawers are 3 inches too short. Another 8 weeks until they show.

At least I had the sense to hire a wonderful carpenter off Taskrabbit who installed all the other drawers and fixed sticking drawers.

In the addition, my electrician is coming in and fixing all the issues that the electricians created to include overheating canister lights, putting the range hood on the same circuit as the gas range when the range hood draws significantly more power and trips the circuit if the range hood, range, and both the main and bottom gas ovens are running. He’ll put the gas range on a separate circuit so not to spoil the tile work.

BTW no problems with the doors now. They weren’t closing properly. Now they do.
