Induction Cooktop - Bosch or Thermador?

Our 15-yer-old 36" Miele induction cooktop just went bad. Sadly, new Miles are now smaller and will not cover our cutout in our granite counter. Thus we are considering the Bosch Benchmark, Thermador Freedom, and Thermador Liberty (All 37" wide. We will still have to make modifications inside the cookout cavity to support the 35" cutout requirement.) I would love to hear from those of you with one of these models. I am especially curious if it heats a large griddle evenly - bacon, pancakes, etc. Also, if it will support a smaller pan - 4" in diameter. I am disappointed none of these models support turning the burners off with a timer - a feature I use regularly, but I am trying to "get over it." Another point I am interested in is how easy (or difficult) is it to read / use the controls. Thank you for your input.

Miele has the KM 7755 FL. Miele - KM 7755 FL – Cooktops (mieleusa.com) 42" wide cooktop. They are set to open a new plant in Alabama by the end of 2024 to produce cooking appliances. The full surface induction models available in Europe are 936mm/36.85" wide. Presumably full surface will be available here.

We have a Bosch Benchmark Induction cooktop and are pleased. The hobs will fit all the sized cookware you've mentioned, heating evenly. You can select different temps for different areas of your griddle and that's nice. I don't like that the count-up timer shuts off when I turn off the hob but, we never had a count-up timer before so that's a small thing.

Our Miele KM5773 has a cutout of 36 1/16" x 19 11/16". Which has led us to narrow our new choices to the 37" models. While their cutout of 34 3/4" is still smaller (we will have to build a steel structure to hold the box), the 37" will cover the current edges.

The Bosch site indicates the smallest pan that will work with the Benchmark is 6". We have a 4" pan that is a favorite of ours for a few uses/. Have you been able to use one smaller than 6"?

The LG CBIH3617BE or LG CBIH3613BE at 36-5/8" wide would also (just) fit. The minimum pan size is 5-13/16".

We don’t have a 4” pan but our manual says: if ”The cookware diameter is smaller than or equal to 5⅛" (13 cm).” place on one of the flex zones. So, it would appear to accomodate this size pot.

I have a 30" Bosch and am very happy with it. The bottom of my smallest pan is 5" but I'd be very surprised if a smaller one wouldn't work on the smallest hob. I have a different induction range at another home and it works fine even if the pan is slightly smaller than the hob markings. I never use a griddle (use an electric one instead) so can't speak to that but I'd think the flex zone would work well for that purpose since you can control the whole thing with one setting. It works great for a large oval Dutch oven.

I initially didn't want this cooktop because of how the controls work - having to pick the hob and then adjust the setting rather than an individual control for each hob. However I'm getting used to it. The controls are easy to read.

Sadly the 42" is too big as it would interfere with adjoining cabinets. I had not heard Miele was opening a plant in the US. That is nice to know.
