There are no rule in colour use, colour is a subjective experience. We refer to all these colour rules as "COOK BOOK SCIENCE" You must decide what pleases you, and make no mistake, you can paint a lighter colour at the bottom. Remember , you don't paint a house, you dress it. What works for you, usually works for the house too. A light skirt with a darker top....... of cause it can work! What you must be aware off is that you house with all the grays and dark roof will no be a striking combination. You must first decide what effect do you want with your colour combinations, and then decide on the colours that will provide that effect.
