So you’ve just had the house painted and are second guessing?

My first impression is that’s a whole lot of brown! (And I like brown.)

The current house color looks to be clashing with the roof, which is a very visible feature of the home. If you’re keeping the roof as is, find a tan or beige or rust that blends well with it and the brick. Or something completely different like a pale sage green. The front door could be a deeper sage green, not anything with a bluish cast.

If we are getting a free repaint I can be Frank- the color is awful. Just an unpleasant brown shade. Sw black fox or urbane bronze would be far better. I would also do dark trim (unless the windows are vinyl) and a new color on the door. Can you remove that awning? It’s incongruous

Someone posted the house with the darker color, Does anyone like that color? That's the color it was supposed to be. Blue got mixed in paint instead of black. The sides of my house are tan.

Go to the store. Get samples. Paint on the house. Stand back and admire in daylight with the brick. And remove the awning.

So, you are saying urban bronze would go with the roof ? This has been very stressful because of the wrong paint and trying to work with the paint co, which I will not mention.

  • last year

Urban bronze with this color would look good with roof?

OP has a few posts going on this topic. I am so confused. OP just had the house painted/

So many posts. Black fox is my favorite but it doesn’t matter- op needs to go to the store and bring home samples. That’s how you decide.

I understand about the samples. I already had done that. Then wrong color mixed. Now with new color hard to pick. It has been hard , went through alot of channels to get them to see they mixed wrong color. It's a big expense on them to repaint eaves, gutters, etc

Not sure at this point if they will paint another color other than what i chose.

What do you mean, ’not sure if they will pick another color than what I chose?’ !!!!

Is this your house or does it belong to someone else?

It's my house. I had picked a real dark brown, Windows Box. When my painting co took my can to the co. didn't use formula on my can, they just computerized and mixed color. I was at church. Husband home, he wasn't into the color, so he thought it was the darker of the two we had looked at. The front was done when I got home. I got out the can and compared it to their mixture, they had mixed blue into paint instead of black. We have been working with them to repaint front , gutters, eaves. I think they will only paint the color I had originally chosen and not a new color. On top of it, the rep dealing with , his last day was Thursday. I am 73, this has been an ordeal, have lots going on, so not sure at this point what color to do with the paint color to go with roof, etc. Thought I would get some advice, since Noone else will help. Husband doesn't care, said just leave it, bit I do not like the color, did not want a lookin so brown paint.

If you have the formula for the color you originally liked/picked, and they are going to repaint for you, I would tell them to get that mixed and do it over. You should get what you asked for. That said, if they get a different brand of paint than your sample, it can still look slightly different than your sample because different varieties and brands use different bases for paint so the final color can look different. So just be prepared for that possibility.

If you have the option of selecting a new color and want feedback, I recommend taking a photo from farther back so people can see your roof better from a distance, and see the surrounding landscape.

Same paint co and painting contractors. Landscaping getting redone in spring, so would not be factor. I had posted roof color.9

Your last pictures posted just above are very good for showing us what your house truly looks like!

The current brown is clashing big time with your brick on the garage. I remain convinced that DARK is NOT what you need on this house. (Which is charming, by the way.) I would have the house painted the same color as the garage door.

House update. The paint co will repaint house only the original color I had chosen or give a 2300.00 credit to the co that painted my house and pass that on to me.

The original color you chose, while not one I would choose, is far better than the current milk chocolate color
