The person doing the mock up has to make a bunch of assumptions:

What's the window size? All the same like the one on the right?

Does the brick go to the ground, or is there a cement foundation visible? etc.

Are there any surprises, like an ugly utility box?

I'd move the shrubs. Probably to the property line. They're doing your house no favors now, unless they are hiding something ugly.

The windows are all the same. they leave probably a foot of brick under the bottom of the window. Brick goes all the way to the ground. nothing but brick and windows behind the bushes. i think they look terrible.

Your house would look fabulous with Mid century modern landscaping. Google something like landscaping for mcm house and though you'll find a lot of pictures not helpful, you'll also find some stunning ideas that will radically transform your long, low house. Take your time looking.

One of the things you could try, if you are reluctant to remove all the bushes at once is to remove a few and prune the others into rounder shapes, so they looks like shrubs, not a hedge. You can also prune the hedge into waves. In short, experiment, because you can always pull them out later. These pics show very tight pruning, but you can do something less clipped.

If you removed a few of the yews/box/whatevers and clipped others, you could add some other plants and have a more diverse and interesting garden. As I mentioned, you can move the shrubs. I moved ones I removed to be in front of my neighbor's ugly fence.

    This should help:

Start with where in the world you are. If you are in a cold climate, try pruning the bushes back before pulling them out because you are going to want something green during the winter.

Whatever you do, have a plan.

Great suggestions here. One step at a time until you have a defined plan for that entire front scape. The 2 sides don’t need to be identical as they are. First thing I’d do is either take out or at least cut out most of the shrubs on either side of the walkway at entry to open up the entry & make it much more prominent. Next thing I’d do is cut at least 1/3 off the tops of shrubs to left of entry to reveal more of the windows. My bet is that as you see the difference those 2 relatively small clean up steps make, you’ll begin to imagine what you can do. The planting area on right between entry & garage door is calling for a lovely mixed bed of flowering & evergreen plants to create a welcoming walkway. The planting bed lines @Doug Lockwood, VSLD Certified (zone 8) drew out for you are a great look to plan for adding visual interest to your streetscape. How & when all this can be done is dependent on, as @mad_gallica (z5 Eastern NY) says, ”…where in the world you are.”

Well, that location info helps. I’ve only driven through your state but I do know your climate is very different than my zone 8 climate in PNW. You should be able to implement a plan throughout the winter months unlike me. I would still take the early steps I previously outlined while thinking about your final plan. Doug’s visuals are good - you’ll have to decide how much of a change you want. Your local larger nurseries should have resources to help you either develop your own plan or have one done for you that you either DIY or hire landscape contractor to do.
