Bad Sanding or Uneven Floors?

We are finishing our new white oak hardwood floors. It’s tricky to catch in a photo but the sanding job to me looks terrible. This photo is after one coat of Bona Natural Sealer and one coat of Bona Traffic HD in Satin. I’m extremely nervous to have this person continue with sanding and adding a final coat as it seems to keep getting worse rather than better. He says it’s due to the install being uneven. But I’m just not sure. I’m wondering if cutting our losses and hiring someone else at this point is the best course of action. Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

First thing they need to do is "Slow down". They are rushing through the project to get it done like Lightning McQueenn trying to pave a new road .

Drum sander needs to be sanded at a slight angle around 10 degrees - rough to medium grit only, up to 60 grit, hard plate the entire floor with 60 grit to remove all drum marks and establish a flat surface, edge all perimeter rough to finish, then hardplate entire floor from 80 to final grit., clean and finish.

Your current flooring contractor does not seem to have the correct equipment or process to do the job correctly, have the patience for quality or appreciates quality.

Well, the guy's comment makes no sense. The floors are uneven? Why would that cause those gauges and circular marks? It looks super disappointing.

The color is really pretty.

New installer required to sand that down and finish it. "Uneven floors" get sanded flat.

Sanding technique is wrong. Drum is hitting those high spots like a speed bump. They need to correct it by refining their sanding technique.

Oh jessieb9, I feel for you! Your photos look more like a "before" than an "after". The wood is gorgeous, and deserves a proper finish. I agree with the others - I'm not sure your guy has the skill or the tools to do this right.
