You will need to get the person doing your flooring to give you samples . Dark stain can mean many things . Usually people choosing white oak tend to make that choice because they do not want the pink hur from red oak so usually more expensive too, So name the stain colors you are asking about but really seeing this in some one elses home with not help much .You can get a pretty good idea with Google just ask for dark stainns on white oak,

I agree with Patricia here. Have the contractor make samples. They have their own process to achieve stain colors. They may or may not have limited skill level or resources trying to match someone elses stain sample/color.

Here are a couple of Rift & Quarter White Oak in medium to dark stains, Soho and Tribeca. They both come select grade.

First, what is the flooring in the rest of your home?

Is it tile is it carpet is it a different wood.......etc?

Where does the kitchen connect to whatever other tflooring you have?

As to a stain on oak, white, red any size? That is selected by you on site, with the installer.

Iif you've no idea what you may like? Borrow a few samples of finished ENGINEERED FLOORING from a local source to show the flooring installer. " I like this tone.........." and then return the sample boards.

Mine is an engineered floor, European oak with character, but it is a medium stain. Very happy with the color. The camera always make it look a bit more blonde/gold than it is in person.

Save money and choose red oak if you want a dark stain. No point in wasting dollars on white oak.
