The space is large, The bed has tight access on the window wall side. Throw a nightstand in there, at least. Next, it appears there's a phenomenal view from that side of the house. How about a balcony or at least much larger fixed glass window(s) without any obstructions.

No matter how strong you are do not throw any nightstands nor other pieces of furniture. Did you draw the Tromp l'oeil or did someone else?

So, skip the nightstand. Move the bed to the left until the lower shelf is usable as a nightstand. Maybe increase the width of part of the shelf.
