We love our electric fireplace! With that nice big wall you could build a false wall to mount the fireplace in and run the electric for it and the TV inside the wall. Alternatively you could put the fireplace in a cabinet that the TV sits on or buy one already made that way.

Do you need th FP for heat or just looks ? If looks why not get one that mimics a fire and really no heat . as for the rest check out Besta from Ikea you can put pieces together to make it look custom and can house the TV, the FP and some storage and display.

Thank you both. We don’t really need it for heat although our living area can get colder in the winter as we have no basement (townhouse) and part of that wall is below ground somewhat with a concrete slab underneath.

Not having the seating lined up would be a bonus, but can’t see the love seat fitting where tv is located. Can you increase the dimension sizes on your diagram, as they are hard to decipher and include the overall length/width of room. There might be better options; would you be ok with the love seat or couch at window and the other facing the fireplace/tv.

A larger rug would help ground.

Thank you. I was thinking of that placement for the love seat and sofa. I just need to make sure there is a way to get around to the right of the loveseat into the dining and kitchen area.

Move to see if it works and try each piece in both places. If you don’t mind not facing the fireplace (put tv on a swivel base), try seating across from each other. Whatever you decide on, you will need to balance the room; coffee table, etc and drapes (try Ikea) would help in that regard. Once set up, you’ll have a better sense of what’s needed and where. If you want advice, provide a picture of the entire room.

Thank you for sharing these ideas. They are great. I am just not sure if we want to go with a permanent build for the tv and fireplace or more of freestanding media/fireplace. Pros and cons for each I guess. Thank you

Like I said, many models (including Dimplex) allow you to just mount it on the wall and not build it in. They sell a frame kit for it. You just need to do your research.

Is sliding the sofa and loveseat to the new possible location beyond your capabilities? Try it out.

They are super heavy as all recliners.

Every home should have some felted sliders for moving furniture.

Put folded tee shirts under the feet of your couches if you don’t have the sliders that Beverly suggests.

In my opinion I would decide how I would want to watch TV, then find furniture to replace or compliment current furnishings. Install TV, place furniture, then look for the fireplace feature. Those bulky sofas are making it difficult to realize your goal. And, no, to having sofas face each other with TV at the perpendicular.

I would try centered fireplace on wall. Flip sofa to window wall and bring the back one forward to face fireplace entered.

In the last photo on of the sofas appears to be blocking a portion of the doorway opening. Would suggest you move the sofa elsewhere as blocking any opening is less than desirable.

Float your sofa and chairs so backs face dining room. Place TV on blank wall where sofas are now. Get a very wide cabinet with built in "fireplace." This one from Wayfair is a little fancy for your big sofas, but Wayfair has several others.

Add some large art prints around the room that echo the vibe of your rug. These are from society6.com and come in many sizes. Don't be minchy about the size. The art you have is too small in proportion to the size of your sofas and TV screen.

Get some bamboo shades the color of your floor for the windows to give the room a finishing touch.

• it is difficult to get current furniture to all face the big open wall where we want the tv to go due to layout and not wanting to block free flow of traffic from one room to the next.
