All 3 tiles are so different. Can you replace the countertops at least and then remove the backsplash? A plain painted wall would suffice until you can add a backsplash down the road.

So the way the backsplash and countertops were done. If I try removing one, then the other will break too. I am also located in bay area, so if I am removing the whole thing the whole upgrade + permits etc will go easily upto 10K+

I need some time to recover so can only plan for this next year or a little later.

Do you think a temporary solution of covering up the countertop with a peel and stick 'tiles' could be a viable option.

Flammable vinyl peel and stick tiles are fine for most of a backsplash, but not behind the stove. You can have a stainless steel piece cut to fit behind the stove.

Cover up the backsplash if the tile counter needs to stay at the moment.

Hood will get replaced. All appliances will be basically stainless steel new / modern style things.

I like/ committed to the colorful backsplash cause I ended up picking a similar bright yellow knobs cause the current knobs are old and tarnished @apple_pie_order

Peel and stick will be gross and unclean on the countertop. save your money until you can replace the countertops. And enjoy your new home!

Your backsplash tiles are beautiful. I you remove the counter tiles salvage any unbroken backsplash tile and replace broken ones with tiles that work with new counter as well. In the interim, a striped floor runner repeating backsplash colors might help pull it together until ready to redo more.
