Don't paint until the new floor is installed. From the mockup, it looks as if the cabinets won't need to be painted. Instead, you might want to replace the backsplash.

Are you replacing the backsplash? If not your pallet will be gray floor, black counters and a backsplash with a mix of those colors. *I* would paint the island a dirty cranberry and the cabinets a taupe to match the floor.

there's no reason to go to the trouble of a big cabinet painting job. with floors that light the cabinets are the correct contrast. the white appliance ? dishwasher.....looks not good as its a case of whites/lights not working well together...can you get a stainless front? there's a wide range of backsplashes you could pick now.

Sorry but I do not think the color of the new floors is a great look with the cabinets the flooring looks to have agreen /gray tinge (could be my monitor) I would much prefer a more warm color for the floors almost like the laminate . BTW close to the look is not going to help . Post a picture of the actaul new flooring sample not phot shopped into your space . My advice before making this choice to change all the bulbs to LED 4000K to make sure the lighting is not skewing the color. I think money spent on new stainless appliances would be abetter choice the cabinets look fine .

I like the floor you have better than the floor you want. Cabinets look good to me too. I really dislike the wall color, and I agree, to add more and better type of lighting in that room.

I agree with the first poster - install the flooring first and then make your decision about cabinet color. Also agree with other posters that the backsplash needs to go even if the countertops stay.

My monitor doesn't show grey for the flooring. There are many sources for the light brown probably European Oak floor you show. Get samples and pricing. When you have a choice get a box to layout to avoid disappointments.

When you have the floor, you can match one of the tones in the floor or choose a complimentary color. A SW store tech will help if you bring in a flooring sample.

This is not the time to replace the floors with engineered hardwood (which I have and it is great in any room or location should there be water). Engineered is expensive. You will be unable to remove dishwasher, 'fridge or stove (which is a strong possibility as they are so dated, black stove, white dishwasher), because the planks will be cut to fit the perimeter. Down the road you want new cabs? Then go with engineered.

I love a white kitchen best but in your case, the warm tone & contemporary style of your cabinets are great, I'd keep them as is. After replacing the laminate (good call), the room might look a little top heavy. If the black counters are quartz it'd be a waste to replace them. But you could really liven the room up by redoing the backsplash with a much lighter color tile, closer to the shade of the new floor. Then get a black front for the dishwasher & you're good to go!

At first glance-- the lighting might need a few adjustments first thing. Then you can see better as to paint color. Something neutral as the black counters are drama enough. I wouldnt be great at remarking on paint color ,but sherwin williams has lots better know how. White range all over the map. My idea would be to bring the kitchen together visually, and avoid stark treatments. In this kitchen I would pick for the island - same or just a shade lighter or darker of same color as you pick for cabinets. Also the hardware is a factor. Stand back,and try to see what you want the kitchen to tell you as a whole. Then you can think better.

Under cabinet lighting, change backsplash, leave flooring alone…your new choice too light… stainless steel dishwaser dishwasher, dont know about your fridge but should be same. Bump your over head lighting. Dont paint cabinets…its a big expensive job and from experience its just not worth it. Paint island instead, i like the muted cranberry comment.

I wold paint them white, but more important than the cabinets is the UGLY black counter tops - UGH - Why do people do such ugly things to their houses??? - get those out of there! Either use a white marble or a warm natural wood - something light for sure and stay away from greys and black. Once you change out the counter tops, the wood cabinets may look better - else paint them white or a pastel like light blue, light green, light yellow, or light pink. Just get rid of the counter tops ASAP - even if you have to buy melamine plastic - not my favorite, but anything is better than black!

With the lighter new floor installed, I suggest the island be painted

Fawn Brindle by Sherwin Williams it will complement both the floor and balance the wood cabinets.
