I look for cleaning and ease of use. For me, not for the trend. Those coiled faucets are past their prime in the home.

"What else should I look for?" I looked for faucets made of brass for durability. I also looked for faucets where the spray function stays on without me holding down the spray button - but this is personal preference. (The Rohl and Grohe I looked at required holding the button on to make the spray work. I ended up with a Brizo which I like very much. I've also had Kohler brand in the past and never had any problems with them.) This is another personal preference, but I looked only at faucets with a single handle, because I find them easier to use with less fiddling around than two handles. You could also look for faucets that use ceramic disc valves rather than plastic, as the ceramic disc valves are more durable (I believe I've read this - hoping someone may be able to verify.)

You could start by looking at a site like Build.com and setting up a search based on number of faucet holes, material, handle style, price, etc. I did that and sorted by best ratings. Note that if you want a gold finish, that often makes the price higher. You could go for a stainless faucet (especially if your sink and appliances are stainless) and still do pulls, knobs, and lighting in a different metal finish. Lots of people do two metal tones in their kitchens.

Finally, if you can view the faucets in person, that's my preference. Bonus if it's a store that has them hooked up to a water source so you can test the spray function.
