It might help others if you post some more pictures to get a sense of the style of your home, and take a picture further back to show more of your pretty staircase. The staircase looks traditional / transitional, but let everyone know if you want to go a bit more modern. I think a longer light would look great, since you have a fair amount of height.

Try searching for "staircase chandelier" and you could find some beautiful ideas. The ones below might be too modern or not be to your taste, but they are examples of what I mean by a longer light or staircase chandelier. Also, if you have a good lighting store nearby, it's worth a visit. I got a lot of good insight from a knowledgeable lighting person and she helped me search catalogues for options that weren't in the store.

You need to go much bigger..looks like your home leans traditional looking at the staircase? can you give us more info on your style?

Bigger sounds good. Honesty I don't know what my style is. We're in San Diego so I kind of like a coastal style mixed in with traditional I think. But I also appreciate bohemian and scandinavian lol. I was thinking something to brighten things up... like a globe shape in white with a gold chain. I also like when the lighting is softer. Kind of muted ..I'm not a fan of the exposed bulbs. Maybe it's because I'm sensitive to light.

I agree with no bare bulbs, especially as you'll be passing the light as you go up and down the stairs (rather than it always being overhead.) I'd visit lighting stores in your area (there should be several in or near San Diego.) Show them your pictures and bring measurements. Hopefully you'll find some helpful folks, and if you're lucky you may even get a Black Friday deal. (Good lighting can be expensive!)
