Visit all the local oriental rug stores in your area. They will have traditional, transitional and modern hand -knotted wool rugs.

Chispa's solution will work. Take a sofa cushion and a spare LVP board with you to the shop. Plan to make two trips.

There is no limit to the material for a rug if you put a felt pad under neath I have a poly one on my LVP at the doggie door in my house has been there for 16 yrs no issue . I have non wool rugs in clients homes with a felt underpad on hardwood no problem BTW I do not think wool rugs are a great choice in high traffic spaces .and for sure not with pets .

Any carpet can be cut to size and edges bound to make an area rug. If you expand your search to remnants, stock and special order carpet you may have better luck finding something you like. Being able to get a custom size that perfectly fits the space can be a huge advantage too.

I used to only buy wool rugs until I couldn't breathe from the one in my bedroom. The inherited Persian ones that I have are fine, but whatever dyes or whatever they treat the newer ones with are a big problem with me, my husband, and one son. I switched to polypropylene and saved money, got a much better selection of rugs, and can breathe again. Since you aren't paying thousands for a polypropylene rug, you don't feel bad switching it out down the road when you move, redecorate, the cat pees on it, or you get sick of it. Stick whatever rug pad underneath that you feel you need to protect your floor but ditch the wool rug idea.

Buying a wool rug is like buying a china cabinet or silver tea set--a throwback to a different Service League ladies group era. I haven't seen the Ruggables in person, but the idea of an easy to clean rug makes a lot of sense to me compared to the oriental carpet cleaning firm driving an hour from Chicago to pick up my rug for cleaning in their shop.

For your wool rug search, let me recommend some handwoven Moroccan Berber rugs that would work beautifully with your space. Our artisanal wool rugs offer:

The white cabinet looks totally out of place. Something in a dark wood finish would have been a better choice for the room.

Chemical reactions between fibers and flooring has to do with the backing of an area rug (that non slip material often applied to the back of cheap area rugs) or a rug pad and the LVT. It has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FIBER ON THE FACE OF THE CARPET!!

You can't use these cheap vanilla waffle pads on LVT without it leaving a pattern.

There's quite a bit of violet in the blue fabric on your sofa, so not every blue rug works in the room successfully

All your windows should have twice the number of drapery panels you have installed on the rods. Drapery panels shouldn't look like sheets. They should have pleats.

Rust is coordinating color for navy blue. I would bring some color in room.

Thank you, Chispa. We went to one store this weekend and we might check out others. There was a rug we saw and liked that also happens to be sold on Wayfair. The only thing is that it's made of polypropylene. I'm not sure if I'm being too cautious about staying away from that material. I've read that it can damage LVP floors. We'd use a rug pad underneath whatever rug we go with but I'm still nervous about it.

Thank you, HU. I think I just need to get over my hesitation with using a polypropylene rug. It would just be a huge financial hit if something happened to the LVP floor due to the rug. We used to have a Ruggable rug and aren't opposed to getting another one.

Thanks for your thoughts, Beverly. The white console table was brought in from another room when we sold our former one. If I remember correctly, that one is 36" high. We have since bought a darker console table (30 in. high, I think) to go with these end tables that just arrived. We happen to have an entryway table that matches them, as well. Clearly, I'm a novice when it comes to understanding floors, rugs, and chemical reactions. I'm going to buy rug pads from Rug Pad USA, which our flooring manufacturer, CoreTec, has recommended. I think they're made of felt. As for curtains, we'll be replacing those once we choose rugs for the two rooms we're furnishing. Thank you for the guidance. I appreciate your help!

LVT Flooring and Rugs

Please re think the curtain panels to some good looking shades, and the console under the tv. when you have the resources. Please do not match the ottoman to the sectional......: ) Add an accent color.

Your room is lacking a much needed warmth

Jan, I mentioned above that I plan on getting felt rug pads and that I'm going to replace the curtains once we choose rugs. We just bought the dark console table and end tables pictured here. The rooms will have warmth.
