You need to take a picture with the house in sun. We can't tell the color of the brick. From what I can see, I'd paint the window frames and trim a cream that goes with the brick. No to black. If you do gray, you need to very carefully pick a warm gray that will go with the brick and the roof. Have fun with that.

You could do a lot with landscaping and a brighter color on your door. Of course, the main reason your windows and door look like black holes is that they are in shade in this pic.

Watch out for a photoshop that looks great because anything not shaded with black holes for windows is going to look a lot better, including your current house without the shade. You don't want to make decisions about your house based on a bad pic and a photoshop that fixes it.

I agree, we need to see the house in the sun, to be able to tell for sure. No grays, or blacks, with your brown roof. I would paint all the window and door trim in a nice cream color, and also the garage doors, the same cream (all this depending upon what the actual color of your brick is, since cant tell that in your shady picture) A bright cheerful front door would be nice, and those yews that are all squared off, removed and replaced with much nicer landscaping than those squared off boxes.

Pick up some color from the brick. May be charcoal gray instead black and plus bright front door.

I agree with the posters that say you need to stay away from any cool tones (gray, black, blue etc) with your brown roof. Brown is in the warm color family (tan, cream, red, gold etc).

Removal of those trimmed-to-within-an-inch-of-their-lives shrubs would go a long way toward updating this house. The shrubs are very 1970s.

And the addition of a wide, swooping matching-brick sidewalk from the door to the driveway. If there’s a walkway there now, it’s so small it can’t be seen.
